Some basic skills of an office employee include the ability to organize office supplies, answer phones, and work a computer – office kittens Debit and Credit have all of those skills – almost. ‘Hired’ by the finance/IT department of a transportation company in Ohio, the rescue kittens were employed not for their natural ability to play with boxes but to boost office morale.

The adorable brother and sister have managed not only to delight their office but the entire internet. Introduced on Reddit by one of their fellow employees, the sweet kitties were caught on camera hiding under and wrestling with an empty box lid. Understandably people wanted to see more of their hijinx. Debit and Credit now have their own Instagram account with 6.2k followers.

Ozzy Osbourne Appears in New Ad to Discourage Cat Declawing

(TMU) — Classic rock icon Ozzy Osbourne is featured in a new PETA advertisement urging people to not declaw their cats and suggesting that the procedure is like a partial amputation.

In the advertisement, Ozzy is depicted with his fingers cut off along with a tagline that reads, “Never Declaw a Cat. It’s an Amputation, Not a Manicure.”

NFL Player Abandoned His Dog On Side Of Road Cause He’s ‘Expecting A Baby’

Dogs are a life-long commitment, plain and simple.

Currently, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are launching an investigation following an incident where their defensive tackle, Rakeem Nunez-Roches’ dog was picked up on the side of a busy Florida road.

Nunez-Roches, who had been known to breed Pit Bull breed dogs, was alleged to have abandoned the Cane Corso. The poor dog was discovered sitting alone on the road for 36 hours – exhausted and starving.

Several people attempted to coax the scared dog into their vehicles but ultimately were unsuccessful.

Marianna Montague, a volunteer with Cane Corso Rescue, was finally managed to get the dog and bring her to the Hillsborough County Animal Services, where she was scanned for a chip. That is when they found out that she belonged to Nunez-Roches.

Cat With 4 Frostbitten Paws Gets New Feet Made Of Titanium

3D-printed titanium limbs helped a frostbitten feline get back on her feet.

A female cat in Russia that lost all four of her paws to frostbite can walk, run and even climb stairs again, thanks to the veterinarians who replaced her missing limbs with 3D-printed prosthetics made from titanium. 

The hardy gray feline, named Dymka ("mist" in Russian), is about 4 years old. A passing driver found her in December 2018 in the snow in Novokuznetsk in Siberia and brought her to a clinic in Novosibirsk, according to Russian news site Komsomolskaya Pravda. 

Dymka was suffering from frostbite of her paws, ears and tail — so much so that veterinarian Sergei Gorshkov had to amputate those damaged extremities, The Moscow Times reported.

12-Year-Old Boy Builds Dumped Disabled Puppy A Lego Wheelchair

When Gracie was just a newborn puppy, her – insert profanity here – owners threw her away like garbage. And as a result, when she was rescued, the poor thing was covered in maggots. She was also missing the hair below her eyes. Her rescuers also realized that she was missing her front legs as a result of a birth defect. No one could tell what hardships she’d faced in her young life, but they knew that Gracie was in for a tough fight.

Gracie was eventually adopted by the Turley family – a family who happen to run a shelter of their own. The family already had a paralyzed dog and a 3-legged Chihuahua, so sweet little Gracie seemed to be a perfect fit for the family. However, the Turley family worried about Gracie’s mobility since she was a growing puppy and wouldn’t yet be eligible for a wheelchair fitting.

Australian Army Soldiers Are Cuddling Bushfire-Injured Koalas On Their Days Off

Australian Army soldiers are becoming professional koala cuddlers in their downtime and it’s adorable

This season’s bushfires in Australia have produced countless heartbreaking stories and images, as the continent has been fighting the flames for weeks and losing millions of their native wild animals in the process. Koalas have been hit particularly hard with thousands dying and many being brought to wildlife rehab centers to recover from injuries sustained in the fires. The Australian Army is stepping in to help by using their days off to help snuggle the animals and it’s exactly as heartwarming as you’d think.

#OurPeople from 16th Regiment Emergency Support Force have used their rest periods to lend a helping hand at the Cleland Wildlife Park, supporting our furry friends during feeding time and by building climbing mounts inside the park,” reads a caption from a post on the Australian Army Facebook page.

Dozens of Koalas Found Dead or Injured at a Timber Plantation in Australia

Scores of koalas have been found dead at a timber plantation in Australia after loggers allegedly bulldozed the area.

Animal welfare charity Animals Australia said the animals had taken refuge in a bluegum plantation in Portland, Victoria after losing their habitats to the recent bushfires.

Pictures circulating on social media over the weekend showed dozens of dead koalas lying on the ground at the site.

People Who Talk To Their Pets Are Smarter Than Those Who Don’t

I admit it: I talk to my pets. I even have a different voice for each one. My non-animal friends think it’s silly and more than a little crazy to carry on these one-sided conversations. But Nicholas Epley, professor of behavioral science at the University of Chicago, disagrees. He feels it’s perfectly normal to engage in this behavior, and it may actually indicate a higher level of social cognition.

Epley is the author of Mindwise: How We Understand What Others Think, Believe, Feel, and Want. He is considered one of the world’s foremost experts on the phenomenon of anthropomorphism – the tendency to assign human thoughts, feelings or characteristics to a non-human object or being.

Anthropomorphism is common in children, who are able to amuse themselves for hours on end talking to imaginary friends and toys. It’s perfectly healthy behavior, and helps them to develop the social skills they will need later in life.

You should never try to cut matted fur out of a pet's ear.

If long-haired dogs and cats aren't regularly groomed the fur on their ears can become thickly matted — but that doesn't mean you should grab your scissors and chop it off. 

"Matts are difficult to brush or comb out, so sometimes pet owners decide to take matters into their own hands and cut them out with scissors," Christie Long, veterinarian and head of veterinary medicine at Modern Animal, told Insider. "This is a mistake. Because it can be difficult to determine where the matt ends and the ear itself begins, it's easy to cut the ear."

The best way to deal with matted fur is to use a soft-bristled brush to gently comb out the matt. If this isn't possible — or you have an uncooperative pet — a trip a professional groomer may be in order.

A Pet Tortoise Missing Since 1982 Was Found By Its Owners 30 Years Later

A pet tortoise missing since 1982 was found by its owners 30 years later in a cluttered back room.

You may have heard that tortoises live a very long time. What you may not know is how resilient, tenacious, and, well, sneaky they are!

One such terrapin named Manuela may have just set the world record for a game of "Hide and Seek" The Almeida family of Realengo, Brazil found out just how long a red-footed tortoise can stay 'lost' when it really wants to.

In early 2013 the family's father, Leonel, passed away and the family decided that it was time to clean out his cluttered back room. Since the father was known as something of a hoarder the room was filled with things like broken TV's, furniture, and many boxes.

One such box was full of old records which one family member, son Leandro, was taking out to a dumpster. As he was about to leave it, one curious neighbor who was watching him asked if he was going to throw away the tortoise that was inside of it.

Leandro said, "I put the trash bag on the floor and the neighbor just told me, 'Will (you) throw the turtle as well?' At that moment, I was white and did not believe."

It was then that the Almeida family learned, amazingly, that their pet was still alive and kicking.

Since termites are quite common in the region and so much furniture was left in the room, the family considered the possibility that the enterprising tortoise was using them as breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Tortoises are known as very long-lived, albeit slow moving creatures and this one had a plan: live in the back room until the nice family that called him Manuela found him again.

Now some 30 years into the future one tortoise can walk through the same house with a new generation of the family he once loved. Mission accomplished Manuela and welcome home!

Squirrel Saved From Hurricane Has Her Own Mini Teddy Bear And Won’t Let Go Of It

When Hurricane Isaac hit, Jill was knocked out of her nest.

Luckily for the young squirrel, she was rescued by a nice family, and though she’d only meant to stay until she was a little older and stronger, she ended up staying for life.

Jill realized that life with her new family was pretty sweet.

Now it’s been seven years since Jill moved in, and she is thriving.

On her Instagram page, she treats followers from all over the world to snapshots of her day to day life. There’s a lot of whacky hijinks and an abundance of fabulous outfits.

And when it comes down to laying down for a good night’s rest, Jill’s trusty teddy is bound to make an appearance. The tiny teddy is her permanent sleeping partner and she loves to snuggle up to it and clutch it tight to her chest.
