Would You Pay $7 to Hang Out with House Cats at the Crescent City Cat Club?

Eshyah Selig is a former real estate appraiser and devoted cat person with a plan. In roughly one month she'll unveil the Crescent City Cat Club, a nonprofit organization devoted to bringing New Orleans cat lovers and homeless kitties together for companionship, comfort, fun and possible adoption.

Here's how it's supposed to work.

Let's say you adore cats, but your house mate is allergic. Let's say you're on an extended business trip and miss your tabby back home. Let's say you can't commit to the long-term care of a pet. Let's say you just want more, and more, and more cuddly contact with our whiskery friends.

"For a lot of cat people," Selig said, "their idea of heaven is hanging out with cats."

Selig hopes such cat people will make their way to the Marigny neighborhood, where she's busily converting a shotgun double into a kitty visiting center. For $7, guests will be able to stand at the glass windows in the kitten room, where they can watch staff members bottle-feed newborns in need of mothering.

Meet Luna, Her Family Threw Her a Quinceañera For Her 15th Birthday

When she was just 3 weeks old, Luna’s family found her wandering along the side of the road — and decided to adopt her. They have spoiled her with endless love and attention ever since, and when her 15th birthday was approaching, they decided to throw her a very special party.

A quinceañera is a cultural tradition and rite of passage where a girl’s 15th birthday is marked with a big celebration. Since they love and cherish her so much, Luna’s family decided that she needed one, too.

“Luna is an absolute sweetheart, loves curling up with people and loves laying on her back on the floor,” Angel Olavarria, Luna’s brother, told The Dodo. “We have spoiled her with abundant love and she has outlived all of our pets. On her 15th birthday we decided to give our little cheese ball a surprise quinceañera.”

Olavarria’s mom came up with the idea to throw Luna a quinceañera almost a year before, and began working on plans for the party a week in advance. There would be lots of food, a cake, decorations, a guest list — and of course, a dress for the birthday girl.

“My mom found the dress on Amazon,” Olavarria said. “I totally thought my mom was joking when she said she was going to order a dress for her, but my mom never jokes about our pets.”

The party room was decked out with a pink tablecloth, balloons and even flowers. The family went all out, so that Luna would know just how special she is to them.

When the big day arrived, Luna’s family put her in her fancy pink dress, sat her at the head of the table, and began celebrating the wonderful 15 years they’ve spent with her. There were 12 family members and friends in attendance, and they partied for three hours, enjoying good company and lots of food, including a traditional tres leches cake.

Even Luna had fun — especially when she got her own special treat.

“She was such a good sport through the whole thing that we think she actually knew we were celebrating her,” Olavarria said “She loved it even more when we opened up a nice can of tuna for her.”

Take a Look at These Beautiful Cats in Cute Sleeping Positions

Everyone loves a really great nap, and no one loves napping more than cats. But these cats take it to a whole new level. Watch and learn. This is how it’s done.

Meet the Buddha cat, expert practitioner of the Awkward Crouch Under the Table pose.

Dust bunny or tiny grey kitten? Hard to say

This cat’s nap game is strong.

                                  Perfect, pocket-sized pussycat.

Falling asleep while watching over the neighborhood is a professional hazard for many guard cats. Luckily it looks pretty quiet out there.

                                       Winning at hide and seek!

This cat’s commitment to napping is admirable.

Who’s going to go looking for the cat in a rain gutter? Guaranteed peace and solitude. Well played, cat.

Fastest way to dry your cat after a bath. Definitely try this at home.

Imitation has always been the sincerest form of flattery.

This cat will be awake and full of energy in thirty minutes.

                                                      No words …

Oh, the weather outside is frightfull…

                                               I can do acrobats!

Those pink paws. That satisfied smile. The way he melts into the glass. Bliss!

                                           I need a bigger pillow!

You can always count on cats to find the warmest spot in the house.

You will never be more relaxed than this cat.

Guess the heat lamp is working.

Best use of an UGG boot in the history of everything.

                                                 So damn close

It doesn’t matter how badly you want to play one of those video games, there’s no way you’re moving this cutie.

Safest, cleanest, warmest cat bed ever. #gooddog

You just never know when you’re going to run out of steam.

If it (barely) fits, that’s good enough for this cat.

They probably have a perfectly awesome cat bed …. but this is better.

He probably got worn out playing “Cat Scratch Fever.”

Everyone has their own napping style. These two are displaying a couple of very popular variations.

That time you conked out right as you were about to catch a butterfly.

Cats: defying the laws of physics, one railing at a time.

                                     The best “dog bed” EVER.

All new moms understand the depth of this cat’s exhaustion. And, sadly, this nap probably only lasted a few minutes.

                                  Vertically challenged napping.

This cat probably has a dozen wonderful store bought toys. But, of course, it’s the cardboard box that gets played with so hard that he fell asleep while he was still playing with it.

We’re just trying to imagine how this happened. Did they all go in at once? Did the white one get in first? Or last? And is there another cat coming that will make the white one pop out entirely?

If this cat had a margarita beside him, he’d be living all of our vacation dreams.

Meet Cameron's Chinchillas: They Are So Adorable, They Look Fake…But They Are Real

These adorable chinchillas come from a breeder called Cameron, based in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire. He specializes mainly in breeding show quality violet chinchillas that, as a feature, have these perfectly round butts.

Don’t worry, they’re not being overfed or groomed everyday to look that round, it’s just how their fur naturally looks like. On Cameron’s website http://camchinchillas.webs.com/ many people state that the chinchillas are being taken care of extremely well, they have lots of toys, are being played with daily and are as happy as any chinchilla could be.

Don’t forget to follow Cameron on Facebook/Instagram for more pics of this round fluffy goodness!

From Cameron's Chinchillas Facebook Page:

Indie my beige carrying violet female took Best Young Mutation and Reserve Best Mutation at the Southern Region Chieveley show yesterday! FYI: Incase anyone is wondering Indie does not live in this cage - it is for exhibition only so the chinchilla can be individually graded by a professionally trained judge by the National Chinchilla Society's show criteria - whilst some stress is in life is unavoidable, care is taken to ensure the chinchillas are kept in a cool, quiet hall. Most of the chinchillas spend the majority of the day asleep in their show cages and are only briefly disturbed during judging (although many aren't phased by this and may even stay asleep). Breeders ensure a sufficient rest period has been provided after each show, otherwise the chinchilla will lose condition and subsequently not place as well. Generally it's advised to take one chinchilla to no more than three or four shows to get a range of expert opinions from judges. If anyone has any questions about showing please feel free to ask.
