Goliath Encounter: Puppy-Sized Spider Surprises Scientist in Rainforest

Piotr Naskrecki was taking a nighttime walk in a rainforest in Guyana, when he heard rustling as if something were creeping underfoot. When he turned on his flashlight, he expected to see a small mammal, such as a possum or a rat.

"When I turned on the light, I couldn't quite understand what I was seeing," said Naskrecki, an entomologist and photographer at Harvard University's Museum of Comparative Zoology.

Rescue Dogs with Talent! - Double-Dutch Dog Breaks Guinness Jump Rope Record And 13 Dogs from 'Super Wan Wan Circus' in Japan Jumping Rope!

A 4-year-old rescue dog Geronimo held the Guinness World Record for most Dutch-style jump-rope skips in one minute with 113, and broke her record live on TODAY by jumping 128 times!

Four-year-old Geronimo has got some chops when it comes to hops!

The Border Collie and Kelpie mix showed off her jumping skills by breaking her own Guinness world record for the most double-Dutch-style jump-rope skips (128!) in 1 minute. She was on TODAY to take part of our week-long series, "Spring Breakers TODAY," where we'll try to break other Guinness Records.

"Look at that eye and paw coordination," Kathie Lee Gifford said in amazement on TODAY as Geronimo did her thing.

Geronimo first became famous when owner Samantha Valle posted a video on YouTube of her jump roping talents.

"I am mesmerized," said Hoda, who gave it a try before Geronimo had her big moment.

Guinness World Records adjudicator Mike Janela confirmed the dynamic dog not only broke the record, but shattered it with 14 extra jumps than she needed.

"There's fried chicken upstairs!" an excited Kathie Lee yelled. "Let's get it for her!"

New World's Smallest Dog - Guinness World Records - Meet Milly

Meet Miracle Milly, a brown Chihuahua, and, she's really small.

The dog world can rest easy tonight, as a new smallest dog in the world (actual title: Smallest Dog Living) has finally been christened by Guinness World Records. This caps months of intense speculation by dog lovers everywhere, with long-winded debates breaking out in comment sections, bars, and even the senate floor (Ted Cruz, R-Texas).

Finally, a ruling came down. The 2013 Smallest Dog in the World is ... small. Victory! To be sure, the dog is small. How small? I don't know.

Okay: She's 3.8 inches, from backbone to paw. Small, to use the vernacular.

“She knows how to pose,” owner Vanesa Semler told The Associated Press.

She also knows how to crush her competition. Licking her paws right now is a dethroned long-haired Chihuahua from Kentucky named Boo Boo, who stands outclassed at a massive four inches. Enough about Boo Boo.

“Milly really likes salmon and chicken,” Semler said.

Here's what we know about Milly thus far, thanks to The AP:

Milly weighed less than an ounce when she was born and "fit in a teaspoon." We don't know whether Semler ever put her in a teaspoon.

Early on, she slept in a doll's crib next to Semler's bed.

She doesn’t bark and likes playing with the plants in Semler’s backyard. (The make of plants is not specified, so make of that what you will.)
Semler has nine other Chihuahuas.

“We give her a new toy almost every week,” Semler said. “She likes to cuddle with them.”

Here is Milly amongst her awards:

Here is Milly cavorting with a candy bar:

Here is Milly on the View (second from left):

Here is Milly weighing in against Floyd Mayweather (TKO):

Here is Milly eating a bone -- weird!

Sorry for knocking Boo Boo a while back. Here's a picture of Boo Boo:

In Milly's honor (also Boo's), let's hope that awards like these are just a fun thing we do to celebrate a quirk in a litter and that people aren't actually irresponsibly breeding dogs to be as small (or as large) as possible to win stuff like this.

Congratulations, Milly!

Beekeeper Dons 73-Pound Bee Suit in China

A Chinese beekeeper donned a 73-pound coat of live bees on Wednesday in a daring record-breaking attempt.

Assistants helped cover She Ping with more than 300,000 bees, the Associated Press reported. The entire process took about one hour, and left only parts of Ping’s face exposed.

She Ping, 32, broke the previous world record for heaviest coat of bees worn in Chongqing, China, which was set by Ruan Liangming, in 2008. Liangming wore 59 pounds of bees, China Daily reported, citing local media.

But She Ping still has a long way to go before he breaks the world record. Guinness World Records’ website lists Vipin Seth of India as the wearer of the “heaviest mantle of bees.” Seth’s mantle weighed about 136 pounds. The record was set in 2009.
