Every year, one lucky turkey is publicly pardoned by the White House right before Thanksgiving festivities begin. In the spirit of this time-honored tradition, the Trump administration tweeted out a poll asking civilians to choose one turkey for pardoning day. The responses were... erm... probably not quite what Trump's team was looking for. Tweets about the White House turkey pardon are hilariously brutal, and probably the best Thanksgiving gift any of us could ask for.
On Nov. 20, the Trump administration decided to do a little last-minute crowdsourcing on Twitter, asking,

One of the Pence Family's Beloved Pets, Oreo, Passed Away This Past Weekend
Indianapolis, IN - Second lady Karen Pence paid tribute to the cat Saturday on Twitter, saying Oreo "touched a lot of hearts in your little life."
Oreo along with the family's other cat, Pickle, and rabbit, Marlon Bundo became famous in January, when the family moved to Washington, D.C.
Oreo made his national debut in a photo of the U.S. Air Force flight, which Vice President Mike Pence tweeted.
Since then, Marlon Bundo, better known as BOTUS (Bunny of the United States), has remained in the spotlight with an Instagram page.
The black-and-white rabbit even has made White House appearances, recently stealing the show at an event for Military Appreciation Month. At the time, Karen Pence said he was "kind of famous," as the first bunny to ride on Air Force Two.
CNN reported Oreo was 13 years old, according to an aide to the vice president.

The 43rd President, George W. Bush, and His Wife, Former First Lady Laura Bush, Adopted a Dog from the SPCA of Texas
“We already love him!” George W. Bush, his wife Laura adopt a puppy named Freddy!
George W. Bush made a very important announcement on Facebook Monday — he adopted a puppy.
The 43rd President posted on Facebook that he and his wife, former first lady Laura Bush, adopted a dog from the SPCA of Texas and named him Freddy Bush.
“We already love him, and even our cats Bob and Bernadette are finding Freddy’s charm futile to resist,” Bush wrote on his Facebook.
It’s no secret that the Bush family adores their dogs. Barney Bush was the famous Scottish Terrier who was at the White House during Bush’s administration. The pup even had his own White House website and was often referred to as “First Dog” while Bush was in office.
Barney died at age 12 in 2013, after Bush left the White House. Miss Beazley, the Bush’s other Scottish Terrier, died in 2014 at age nine.
In the Facebook post, Bush advocated for adopting or rescuing dogs from shelters.
“If you could use a little extra joy in your life, consider adopting a pet from an animal shelter or rescue group,” he wrote.

A Central Vermont Company is Selling Pet Toys Lampooning the Presidential Candidates
A central Vermont company is having some fun with a serious topic: the 2016 race for the White House.
The toys are available in caricatures of Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders
Fuzzu, based in Waterbury, is selling pet toys lampooning the presidential candidates.
"I think it's a natural stress reliever," said Anne Lika of Fuzzu. "We look at ourselves as an entertainment company. We love the humor."
Lika said sales are skyrocketing, with customers as far away as Japan.
The toys are made in China, using heavy, reinforced canvas, and are available in caricatures of Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders.l
The Clinton toy, clad in a pantsuit, has a "smile switch" on its back, while the Trump doll has wild hair and is carrying directions on how to build a wall. The Sanders toy, meanwhile, wears a watch that says "time for a change."
"It's lightening it up," explained Fuzzu designer Sarah-Lee Terrat, describing the company's goal to inject some humor into the election cycle. "It's time to have fun with it."
When asked if buyers are likely to pick products based on the party they love — or the one they love to hate — Terrat said "people are buying them for both reasons."
"I think the Hillary camp is buying Hillary, and the Donald camp is buying Hillary, for completely different reasons," she explained.
Trump toys are the top sellers right now, she noted.
Also available from Fuzzu: cat toys with catnip inside and jumbo versions of the political dolls for decoration. Styles retail for between $10 and $35.
The company said it will stay in business after the election and has many more design ideas in the works.

Sunny, The Youngest of the First Family’s Two Dogs, Sometimes Sneaks Out of the Kitchen and Poops at the Other End of the White House
Bo Obama is a perfectly well-behaved Portuguese Water Dog.
He’s had top notch breeding and training. In fact, his professional trainer
said that Bo was an attentive student who never had an accident. He’s certainly
a presidential pup. Sunny Obama, Bo’s furry sister, is a bit of a punk.
First Lady Michelle Obama admitted that Sunny, the younger
of the First Family’s two dogs, can be a little naughty. The pup will sometimes
sneak out of the kitchen and go poop at the other end of the White House. Sunny
didn’t get the expert training that Bo did, apparently, and she wasn’t potty
trained when the Obama family got her in 2013.
Sunny has a history of rowdy behavior. She once knocked
over a toddler at a White House holiday event, though she apologized by licking
the little one’s face. It’s nice to know that her high status in society hasn’t
affected Sunny’s ability to throw decorum to the wind. Even the President has
to deal with dogs pooping in the house.

Obamas Honor Washington Humane Society - Sunny, Canine Companion for First Dog Bo, Joins the First Family - Obamas Make Gift to Washington Humane Society
Washington, DC – It was the bark heard around the world. Yesterday, the First Family welcomed a new member into their family, Sunny, as a canine companion for First Dog Bo.
In honor of Sunny, the Obamas made a donation to the Washington Humane Society (WHS). WHS President & CEO, Lisa LaFontaine issued the following response:
“We're honored that President Obama and his family have once again recognized the Washington Humane Society as the leading voice for animals and are grateful for their generous gift. We hope others are inspired to add to their family, and see the value in having multiple pets. The companionship of another dog for Bo will certainly benefit him in ways that people can’t emulate. In honor of Sunny being added to the Presidential family, WHS will be offering a 25% discount for anyone adopting an additional pet into their family for the rest of August.”
On the same day, the White House issued a groundbreaking response to a public petition asking for a ban on Breed Specific Legislation, simply and powerfully stating, “We don’t support breed-specific legislation – research shows that bans on certain types of dogs are largely ineffective and often a waste of public resources.” (petitions.whitehouse.gov)
LaFontaine added, “We are pleased that the White House agrees with our position on the issue of Breed Specific Legislation. Science and experience has proven these laws ineffective, and there is no place for discrimination of dogs based on their appearance in an enlightened and compassionate society. Because WHS celebrates all animals, the generous contribution of the First Family will be used to help find homes for dogs who might otherwise be affected by breed discrimination.”
