Meet Cygnus, a Maine Coon Kitten Who’s Luxurious Tail Breaks The World Record

Your kitty may have a lovely tail, but it probably can’t compare to the tail of a Maine Coon kitten named Cygnus. According to his human, the tail measures about 18.4 inches, breaking the world record by about 2 inches. Though the measurement isn’t yet officially documented by Guinness World Records, the pictures speak for themselves.

The current record is held by Stewie, another Maine Coon who also holds the record for World’s Longest Cat. His tail is 16.34 inches long. Cygnus’s incredible tail shatters that record if the measurements are accurate.

Cygnus hasn’t let his enormous anatomy make him cocky. He’s happy to share the fluff while cuddling with his two cat brothers, Arcturus and Sirius. You can follow the cat sibling on Instagram if you just can’t get enough of that luxurious tail. Hopefully, you’ll be seeing it in the record books soon!

Brian Griffin the Smart-Talking Dog on Fox's Family Guy to be Killed Off of Show - Fans Petition Against Brian's Death

Following the Griffin family dog's death during Sunday's episode, fans have already collected over 30,000 signatures to revive the late pooch.

Hours after the death of smart-talking Brian Griffin on Fox's Family Guy, a fan petition calling for the pooch's revival has quickly become the top entertainment petition on Change.org.

During Sunday's "Life of Brian" episode of Family Guy, the Seth MacFarlane-produced series killed off the Griffin family's sophisticated talking dog, Brian, when he was struck by a car and run over as he prepared to play in the street with Stewie. Ultimately, his injuries were too severe, and he could not be saved.

Family Guy fan Aaron Thompson of Tuscaloosa, Al., launched the Change.org petition Monday and within hours, the effort calling for the beloved dog voiced by MacFarlane to be brought back to life had already collected over 30,000 signatures.

"Brian Griffin was an important part of our viewing experience," Thompson wrote on the site. "He added a witty and sophisticated element to the show. Family Guy and Fox Broadcasting will lose viewers if Brian Griffin is not brought back to the show."

Brian and Stewie are the backbones of the series and often team to mock Griffin family patriarch Peter. Brian is one of several characters voiced by MacFarlane, who also brings Peter, Stewie, Glenn Quagmire and countless others to life on the series.

It's unclear just why MacFarlane and the Family Guy producers opted to kill off the character. Shortly after the episode concluded Sunday, Fox paid tribute to Brian with a short video.

The World's Longest Cat Dies

RENO, Nevada -  Stewie the Cat, the longest domestic cat in the world at more than 4 feet long from nose to tail, has died.

Stewie was surrounded by family when he succumbed to a yearlong battle with cancer Monday evening at his Reno home, owner Robin Hendrickson said Tuesday. He was 8.

Guinness World Records declared Stewie the record-holder in August 2010, measuring 48.5 inches from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail.

Hundreds of fans flooded Stewie's Facebook site with memories and condolences Tuesday. The Maine Coon cat was a certified therapy animal that frequently visited a Reno senior center and helped promote animal welfare awareness with the Nevada Humane Society.

"Stewie was always very social and loved meeting new people," Hendrickson said. "He has touched many lives, and for that I am grateful."

Stewie's full name was Mymains Stewart Gilligan. Hendrickson bought him from a breeder in Hermiston, Ore., in 2005. Last month, he attended the International Cat Show in Portland, Ore.

"He did really well at the show, even though he wasn't feeling totally perfect," said Valerie Horton, the show's entry clerk. "He loved being there because he loved the public. He always did."

Officials for Guinness World Records did not immediately respond to inquiries about a successor to Stewie's record. The previous record-holder, Leo, a 48-inch-long Maine Coon owned by Frieda Ireland of Chicago, died several years ago.

Stewie was diagnosed in early 2012 with Lymphosarcoma, a malignant disease of the lymphoid tissues. He responded successfully to chemotherapy and was declared cancer-free, but the remission period was brief and a vet recently found another, more aggressive tumor on his kidneys, Hendrickson said.

"I knew that although we could fight it, the end was near and so I wanted to simply make him comfortable and let him enjoy the time he did have," she said.
