Montgomery County, Maryland  - The Montgomery County Police Department's Animal Services Division is searching for the person who left a puppy to die in a Burtonsville, Maryland, parking lot.

Someone reported seeing the puppy alone in a parking lot in the 4200 block of Tazewell Terrace on Jan. 3. Investigators say the pit bull puppy, now named "Clark Kent," was found "moments from death in a dirty crate."

The puppy was underweight and experiencing seizures when he was found. Officials believe he is just over a month and a half old.

The person who abandoned the puppy could face charges of criminal neglect and animal abandonment. Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the case could be considered a misdemeanor or felony.

Clark is now with a foster family and will be made available for adoption once the case is closed and he's given medical clearance.

Anyone with information that can help police is asked to call the tip line at 240-773-TIPS (8477).
