Norfolk SPCA Announces the Selection of Robert Blizard as its New Executive Director

The Norfolk SPCA conducted a national search beginning in June and is excited to have Blizard as the organization's new leader.  For the past three years, Blizard has served as the chief development officer of the Washington Animal Rescue League in Washington, D.C.  Prior to that, he worked in fundraising for the Humane Society of the United States for eight years.

Mr. Blizard earned a BA from the University of Virginia and an MBA in finance and marketing from the Wharton School/University of Pennsylvania.

"We are thrilled to have Rob join the Norfolk SPCA.  His passion for animals, extensive experience and outstanding leadership will further strengthen the services and programs offered by the Norfolk SPCA," said Board President Kathy Ferebee.  "As we celebrate our 120th anniversary this year, we envision a bright future for our shelter and are confident Rob will help us make a greater impact in the Hampton Roads community."

We hope you will join us in welcoming Rob to our organization.

A Note from The Pet Tree House

I would like to take this time to personally, congratulate Mr. Blizard on his new position.

I first met Mr. Blizard in July of last year, when he invited me to the League for a book signing for Wayne Pacelle, CEO & President, Humane Society of the United States.

My husband and I arrived early at the book signing, and were greeted with an extended hand and a smile from Mr. Blizard. He gave us a tour of the facility, which was immaculate.  He was a great host!

I will miss Mr. Blizard when I attend events at the League, and I know he will do a great job at Norfolk SPCA.

I have to say one more thing before I end. He is a great pet parent who loves talking about, and sharing pictures of his precious little ladies...Ginger and Holly!

Congratulations! from The Pet Tree House!
