Reward Offered: German Shepherd Found with Gunshot Wounds and Severed Tail

A seriously injured German shepherd with gunshot wounds, and a partially severed tail, was discovered Prestonburg, Kentucky, on Tuesday.

According to the non-profit organization, The Arrow Fund, the injured dog, dubbed "Cello," was flown by volunteer pilot, Valerie Allen, to waiting members of the organization; the critically injured dog was rushed to the Blue Pearl Animal Hospital for emergency care.

Cello appears to have been shot in the head at close range and her tail was partially hacked off; one of the gunshot wounds destroyed Cello's eye. Though the dog was weak, and underweight when she arrived, her only chance for survival was emergency surgery. The Arrow Fund described Cello's broken spirit to their Facebook followers on Tuesday:

The spirit of this girl is broken, but she did walk up to us and we told her we all loved her and that nobody would hurt her anymore.

Miraculously, Cello survived. Following the emergency surgery, the Arrow Fund indicated that a transfusion for the injured dog was likely to take place soon.

Cello's condition is guarded. Anyone hoping to contribute towards her veterinary care can donate to:
