Washington Humane Society - Congratulations to WHS President and CEO Lisa LaFontaine, Who Has Been Elected Chairman of the Board of the National Federation of Humane Societies!

We are honored that the Washington Humane Society's President and CEO Lisa LaFontaine has been elected Chairman of the Board of the National Federation of Humane Societies. Recognized as a national leader in animal protection, Lisa will be leading the Federation to establish best practices for humane societies nation wide.

Lisa LaFontaine joined the Washington Humane Society (WHS) in August of 2007 as the President and Chief Executive Officer, crafting a solid, forward-thinking vision for the future of the organization as a progressive animal welfare agency.

She brings to WHS extensive leadership and strategic capability in the field, and her experience heading a successful capital campaign that resulted in a state-of-the-art animal welfare facility and an expanded endowment fund for her prior organization.

This success continues in her work at WHS as Lisa increases live release rates, advocates for greater animal protection, develops innovative programs and builds relationships with the DC community on behalf of our many animals in need.

Lisa and her husband Matt Kayhoe share their home with their four-legged family that includes, dog Guinevere; cats Crystal and Gregory Xavier Pibb, the former WHS Mascat; and an ever rotating and always welcomed family of foster animals.
