As the only humane society chartered by the United States Congress, WHS remains the open access shelter for animals in our nation’s capital. Highlights of the report and video reveal:

A dedicated team of field services Officers who responded to a combined 14,000+ calls to help animals,
A multi-pronged approach to pet rehoming, including a dynamic fostering program housing up to 400 animals at a time,

An organization supported by the community it serves, with 300+ volunteers chipping in at any given time, and

A robust Humane Education program, teaching nearly 3,000 students a year how to be more responsible pet owners and the importance of keeping animals safe.

WHS is proud to protect and serve thousands of animals each year in the heart of our nation’s capital. Read the report and watch the video below to learn how WHS is saving more animals in DC than any other organization in our area.
